Drone Photography for Home Inspections in Dallas, TX

Some roofs are too steep or too high to walk safely. Drone photography lets us document what's up there — clearly and completely — without cutting corners.

Two Ways We Use Drone Photography

Roof documentation is the primary reason — aerial lot shots are available when you need them

01
Roof Documentation

Steep pitches, tile roofs, and multi-story homes can make walking the roof unsafe or impossible. Drone photography lets us inspect and photograph the entire roof surface — ridges, valleys, flashings, vents, and chimney — and include those images directly in your inspection report.

02
Aerial Lot Photography

Buyers purchasing a vacant lot or a property with acres sometimes want aerial images of the land before they build. Drone photos give you a clear overhead view of the lot layout, boundaries, drainage patterns, and surrounding context that you simply can't get from the ground.

What Gets Documented from the Air

When drone photography is added to a roof inspection, here's what's captured

โœ“
Overall Roof Condition

Full aerial view of the roof surface — coverage, visible wear, and any obvious damage.

โœ“
Ridges, Valleys & Hips

Critical transition points where water converges and where deterioration typically shows up first.

โœ“
Flashing Around Penetrations

Chimney, pipe boots, skylights, and vents — areas where improper flashing is a leading cause of leaks.

โœ“
Gutters & Downspouts

Visible gutter alignment, debris accumulation, and downspout positioning documented from above.

โœ“
Fascia & Soffit Edges

Roof edge conditions that can indicate long-term moisture problems at the roofline.

โœ“
HVAC Equipment on Roof

Rooftop units, curbs, and associated ductwork visible from above are documented as part of the aerial record.

Drone Photography FAQ

Common questions from DFW homebuyers and agents

  • Is drone photography included with a standard home inspection?

No — drone photography is an add-on service. You can request it when scheduling and we'll bring the drone to document the roof or lot on the same day as your inspection.

  • Do you always fly the drone, or only when the roof can't be walked?

We use the drone when roof conditions make walking unsafe or impractical — steep pitch, tile roofing, excessive height, or fragile material. On walkable roofs we go up on the roof. The drone is a tool, not a replacement for getting up close when we can do so safely.

  • Are the drone photos included in the inspection report?

Yes — a link to a Dropbox folder containing all the drone images is in your inspection report alongside the written findings. You get one report with everything in it.

  • Do I need to add drone photography to get my roof inspected?

No — the roof is always inspected as part of a standard home inspection. If the roof is walkable and conditions allow, we go up on it. If the roof is too steep or weather prevents walking it safely, we use the drone at no extra charge — it's the only option in that situation. Drone photography as an add-on is for clients who want aerial photos of a walkable roof in addition to the standard inspection, or who want aerial shots of the lot.

See the Roof. The Whole Roof.

Add drone photography when you schedule — we'll document what's up there and put it in your report.
